Peter Akkermans appointed professor
On November 17, 2003, Dr Peter M.M.G. Akkermans, curator of the department for the Ancient Near East of the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities and project director of the excavations at Tell Sabi Abyad, was appointed professor at Leiden University. His teaching assignment is: “The prehistory of Western Asia, with special attention to the period before c. 4000 BC”.
